Changes to Prior Authorization Submissions for Back Pain Management and Spinal Surgery Services

OrthoNet currently manages prior authorizations for back pain management and spinal surgery on behalf of Healthfirst.

Starting September 3, 2025, Healthfirst providers will need to submit prior authorizations via Optum’s Spine, Pain, and Joint portal as the OrthoNet portal will be discontinued.

To access the Optum portal, providers will need a OneHealth ID (OHID) Account. If you already have a OHID Account, you will be able to login to the portal using your current credentials. If you do not have a login, please register for an account here: How to create a OneHealthcare ID.

More information about the transition, including a tutorial and instructions on completing the online authorization submission, will be made available in August 2025 via the OrthoNet portal.
