At Healthfirst, we’re committed to helping providers and clinical coders with the accurate documentation and coding of patients’ health records.
The Healthfirst Documentation and Coding Excellence team offers live training (in-person and virtual) for our in-network healthcare providers, clinical coders, and support staff.
Training sessions include materials for condition-specific education under Risk Adjustment. We also offer links to our library of recorded videos on coding best practices and tips.

Our tip sheets and videos are available to assist providers and coding staff with the documentation and ICD-10-CM selection on services submitted to Healthfirst. It includes information from industry sources about proper coding practice.

Medical records must be maintained by any Clinical Practitioner who provides medical and/or referral services to any Healthfirst member for a period of 10 years after the last visit date, or, in the case of minor children, for 10 years from the age of majority. For more information, see section 5.2 Medical Record Reviews and Documentation Standards in the Healthfirst Provider Manual.
Healthfirst clinical providers will learn about ICD-10 accuracy and clinical documentation improvement based on recommendations from the Office of Inspector General.
