Healthfirst updated its Obstetric Billing Guidelines reimbursement policy to incorporate updated national coding standards and New York State (NYS) Medicaid billing guidance for maternity care.
Billing guidance for pregnancies will transition from the historical global obstetrical payment model to a service-level, encounter-based billing framework.
Providers should review the updated Healthfirst reimbursement policy and related guidance to ensure claims are submitted correctly for applicable maternity services beginning January 1, 2027.

Healthfirst updated its Obstetric Billing Guidelines reimbursement policy to incorporate updated national coding standards and New York State (NYS) Medicaid billing guidance for maternity care.
Billing will transition from the historical global obstetrical payment model to a service-level, encounter-based framework. These changes will apply for certain pregnancies beginning June 1, 2026.
