Healthfirst has been closely monitoring the service disruptions caused by a cybersecurity incident that impacted the operations of Change Healthcare. (See FAQ updated May 3, 2024)

At this time, Healthfirst can confirm the following:

  • Authorizations can be obtained through normal business processes.
  • Our call center is fully operational.
  • Our pharmacy services are fully operational.
  • Healthfirst dental services have not been disrupted; dental providers who use Change Healthcare appear to be using work arounds for prior authorizations and to support claims submission.
  • Electronic remittance advice (ERA) can be obtained through the Explanation of Payment feature on the Healthfirst Provider Portal. (ERAs are not being sent through Change Healthcare.)
  • Healthfirst continues to issue payments for claims submitted prior to the cybersecurity incident.

Healthfirst uses Change Healthcare as its exclusive electronic data interchange (EDI) clearinghouse, which impacts our ability to process claims. We are actively working with Availity to establish an alternate option for claims submission. We understand that our providers use a variety of different clearinghouse partners and once our connection with Availity is established, Healthfirst will be able to accept claims submissions through any clearinghouse of your choice.
